*Note for 2021-22 Illinois Report Cards for Brooks and Julian:
On Oct. 14, 2022, prior to the release of the State Report Card, district staff identified a data irregularity in the middle school report cards related to the percentage of eighth-grade students passing algebra (see table below). Upon further review, it was determined that the discrepancy occurred due to an error in how the middle school math courses were coded in our student information system, PowerSchool, and how it was subsequently reported to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The error was immediately reported to the state and the district was advised on next steps.
Unfortunately, the district is unable to update the data on either the 2020-21 or 2021-22 report cards. However, the state confirmed that the metric—the percentage of eighth-graders passing algebra—has no bearing on the schools' summative designations (both were Commendable in 2022).
In addition to posting information about the discrepency on the district website, staff have confirmed that all math courses are coded correctly in PowerSchool for the 2022-23 school year. The district will continue to review its data reporting structures on an ongoing basis moving forward.
